Suspected Firearm And Ammunition Seized In North Belfast
Police have arrested a 57-year-old man after a suspected firearm and ammunition were found in north Belfast.
The items were seized following the search of a property in the Crumlin Road area on Thursday.
Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: "A proactive search was carried out on Thursday morning when the firearm and ammunition were found and taken away for further examination. A 50-year-old woman and 16-year-old male were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances. Both were later released that evening on police bail pending further enquiries."
The 57-year-old male has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Elsewhere, police have arrested two men and two women in the Flagstaff Road area of Newry after a suspected firearm and a number of other items were found on Saturday.
Officers received a report of a number of individuals in a blue car behaving suspiciously in the Brogies Road area at around 7pm.
A bag was located near the car containing a suspected firearm and a number of other items. The men aged 23 and 24 and the women aged 19 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including carrying a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, going equipped for burglary and possessing an article with a blade or point.
All four have been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

A man has been arrested and a suspected firearm recovered by the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) in L'Derry. On Tuesday 21st May, as part of an ongoing operation, officers stopped and searched a vehicle in the Letterkenny Road area of the city at approximately 6.45pm – recovering a suspected firearm and ammunition.

Appeal Over Ballymena Jewellery Robbery
Police have appealed for information following an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Ballymena, County Antrim. Three men, one armed with a suspected firearm, went into the shop on Victoria Street at about 17:00 on Monday evening. The men then threatened members of staff and forced them to lie on the ground.

Suspected Firearm Found In West Belfast
A security operation in west Belfast has now ended. A suspected firearm was found during police searches in the Upper Springfield Road. Diversions were put in place and the area was sealed off. The item has been taken away for further examination and the road has been re-opened.
