Teebane Memorial In Co Tyrone Attacked
A memorial to remember the victims who were murdered by the Provisional IRA at Teebane in Co Tyrone has been attacked.
Paint was thrown over the front of the memorial - the second attack in recent weeks.
Eight Protestant workers died in the 1992 attack. Six others were also injured.
DUP Assembly candidate, Ian McCrea, slammed those responsible for the attack.
He said: "After being informed of this attack, I immediately travelled to the memorial at Teebane and was disgusted to see two different colours of paint had been thrown over the front of the Memorial. "I have since been in contact with family members of some of those innocent victims who were murdered by the Provisional IRA at Teebane.
"This latest attack follows the damage to the floral tributes left by family members only a few weeks ago and it beggars belief that there are those who will stoop so low as to attack a memorial to eight innocent men murdered by the IRA on 17 January 1992.
"I want to appeal to anyone travelling along the Cookstown to Omagh Road in the vicinity of the memorial who may have witnessed any activity please contact the police as soon as possible."
Sinn Féin MP for Mid Ulster Francie Molloy said:
"These repeated attacks are wrong and must stop immediately.
"Memorials, from whatever background or tradition, should not be targeted by anyone.
"This is the second attack on this monument in recent months.
"There is no place for this type of vandalism.
"Those responsible for these attacks are not representative of the people."
