Increase In Number Of People Claiming Unemployment Benefits In NI

Unemployment in Northern Ireland has increased over the past month, according to the latest figures.

The number of people claiming unemployment benefits rose by 200.

According to the Labour Force Survey, this is the second consecutive month that the number of people claiming benefits has increased, however it is only the third occasion an increase was recorded in the last 37 months.

Meanwhile, the number of people claiming unemployment benefits has fallen by 26,100 since the most recent peak in February 2013.

Drop In Number Of People Claiming Unemployment Benefits
The number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Northern Ireland has dropped. The total now stands at 31,600, a fall of 300 in February, according to the latest figures. Employee jobs also increased over the quarter to December 2016 by 0.2%. Manufacturing output also rose in the last quarter of 2016, a rise of 4.
