Nesbitt Slams Decision To Scrap Northside Development Plans
The decision to scrap plans for the £300 million Northside development in Belfast has been slammed by the UUP.
Leader of the party Mike Nesbitt said the Department for Social Development's (DSD) decision is another example of the inability of a DUP/Sinn Féin led government to deliver on its promises.
Mr Nesbitt also said the only thing DUP and Sinn Féin can develop is a reputation for "failure".
He said: "They promised 5,000 jobs with a £300 million investment in the old Maze prison site, but delivered little more than a car park. They promised our brave emergency services the best training facilities in the world at Desertcreat outside Cookstown, but delivered a green field. Now the £300 million development to regenerate the north side of Belfast City Centre has been scrapped. Goodness knows what Ulster University are thinking, given their commitment to regenerate that area of our capital."
