Two Arrested Following Armed Robbery In East Belfast

Two people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in east Belfast.

The incident occurred at commercial premises on the Upper Newtownards Road at around 11.50pm on Tuesday, 17 May.

A man, aged 26, and a woman, aged 28, were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.

The pair are currently being detained by the police.

Staff members were left very badly shaken, however there were no reports of any injuries.

Elsewhere, a man armed with a knife, robbed premises in the Summerhill Avenue area of Belfast on Monday, 16 May.

The suspect, who was wearing a balaclava, is believed to have made off with a sum of money and a laptop.

On seeing the man, two members of staff locked themselves in a room.

The man is described as being approximately 5ft 7inches tall, with a strong Belfast accent, slim build and aged in his late 20s or early 30s.

He was wearing a black knitted balaclava, possibly with some colour going through it, a black hat, a long sleeved black top and black trousers.

No one was injured during the incident, however the two staff members were left very badly shaken.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in west Belfast. The robbery happened at a shop on Caffrey Avenue at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 27 February. The suspect threatened a member of staff and made off with a sum of cash and cigarettes. He was arrested on Wednesday, 28 February, and has been detained in police custody.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

Man Dies In Portadown Road Crash
An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.

Off licence robbed in south Belfast
A man armed with a handgun has robbed an off-licence in the University Road area of south Belfast. Shortly after 7pm, a man entered the premises and produced a handgun and demanded money from the till. The man made off with an undisclosed sum of money.
