Innovations Voucher Scheme Applications Opened
Invest NI has opened applications for its new 'Innovation Voucher', which aims to help businesses top improve or create new products, services or processes'.
Open to all small and medium-sized businesses in Northern Ireland, the £5,000 voucher gives access to skills and expertise from one of 39 registered knowledge providers - universities, colleges or technical institutes - throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Businesses can get help with a range of innovation projects including:
• developing ideas for new and improved products, processes and services
• testing and validation of new or enhanced products and services
• using or experimenting with new materials
• tapping into research and scientific expertise
Applications are welcome from small business including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, and those medium-sized businesses that have not yet received assistance through Invest Northern Ireland's research and development programme in the past five years.
The aim of the programme is to deliver innovation and some activities are specifically excluded from voucher support. For example:
• buying equipment
• standard training
• general marketing
• website optimisation
• standard app development
• business plans and economic appraisals

Purepipe To Invest £250,000 And Create Six New Jobs
Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 and creating six new jobs as part of plans to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.
