Three People Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
Three people have been convicted for claiming benefits they were not entitled to at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
Danielle Wilson claimed Employment and Support Allowance, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Income Support totalling £8,172 while failing to declare employment and living with a partner. She was a given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
Timothy Waring claimed Income Support totalling £3,645 while failing to declare his partner's employment. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
Jamie-Lee John claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance totalling £2,238 while failing to declare employment. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
All are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
£10.5m Invested In Two AD Plants In NI
A total of £10.5 million has been invested in two anaerobic digestion (AD) plants in Northern Ireland.
Recycling and Waste LP (RAW) Fund, in which UK Green Investment Bank (GIN) is an investor, put in £8.7m in a 3 MW AD plant near Ballymena with co-investment of £4.4m from Foresight AD EIS Fund, £8.7m from Invest Northern Ireland and £1.5m from Xergi.
Xergi has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts for the project.
The Ballymena project is being developed by Stream BioEnergy Limited.
Economy Minister Simon Hamilton, said: "This project has been developed as a result of support under the SUPL SBRI Project and the SUPL Loan Scheme. It is an outstanding example of public sector and private investors coming together to support a new technology for sustainable agriculture and to grow our economy. In addition to helping the local poultry sector to grow, the plant will create up to 100 jobs during the construction phase with a further 11 new jobs available when the plant becomes operational in 2017."
DUP 'Shocked' Over Parades Commission Decision
DUP MLA William Humphrey has expressed shock and disappointment at the Parades Commission decision to prohibit any of the Whiterock Parade from going through the Workman Avenue gate.
The entire parade must now go through the Mackies site.

Mr Humphrey said: "This decision is bizarre, illogical and unhelpful. The Whiterock parade has passed off peacefully in recent years with the Orange Institution fully abiding by previous determinations which restricted the number of participants allowed to pass through the gates. It is notable that the only breaches have been by nationalist protestors, some of whom travel a great distance to be offended.
"I will be discussing this ruling with other members of the Orange Institution and how we might move forward. I have already spoken to PSNI representatives. Given the attempts by some to increase tensions only last night this ruling once again demonstrates how the Parades Commission are part of the problem in parading rather than part of the solution."

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has announced a £17 million fund to support pensioners who have lost eligibility for the Winter Fuel Payment due to recent UK government changes. The one-off £100 payment will be automatically issued to an estimated 250,000 pensioners in around 170,000 households before the end of March 2025.

Major Drug Bust In Omagh Linked To INLA
Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force have made a significant drug seizure in Omagh. Officers searched a van in the Doogary Road area on Thursday morning, 21st November, and recovered a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of £750,000.
