Plans For MTV Music Event In Belfast Dropped
Plans for an MTV music event due to be hosted in Belfast this September have been dropped by Belfast City Council (BCC).
MTV had reportedly been in discussions to host an event in Belfast which would have brought some of the biggest names in the music business to the city.
However, BCC said the event has now been dropped.
A spokesperson said: "The MTV gig planned for September is not going ahead due to a number of other competing music events during the same month."

MTV has announced it will stage stage this year’s second 'MTV Crashes' live music event in late September at L'Derry's Ebrington Square. The event will be staged in collaboration with Derry City Council in front of 10,000 people across the weekend of September 19-21.

Belfast Awarded UNESCO City Of Music Status
UNESCO has awarded Belfast the coveted City of Music status, celebrating the city's rich musical heritage and recognising the importance of music to its future. Belfast is only the third city in the UK to become a City of Music with Liverpool receiving it in 2016 and Glasgow in 2008.

Tickets To Go On Sale For MTV Derry Event
Derry City Council has announced that thousands of tickets will go on sale on Saturday 09 August at 09:00 for the 'MTV Crashes' live music event in September. MTV returns to the city following its 'One Big Weekend' event last year as part of L'Derry's year as UK City Of Culture.
