NI Water Announces Information Event
NI Water has announced details of an information event regarding a capital works project for a new storm sewer for the Olympia Leisure Centre & Windsor Park developments.
Work is due to commence in mid-September and involve the laying of a new storm sewer within the Olympia Drive and Donegall Avenue area. The project will also include upgrading the existing 1930s combined sewerage system, removing significant volumes of storm water from the sewer. In turn, this will reduce the risk of out-of-sewer flooding and provide environmental benefits.
Ahead of work commencing, NI Water is hosting a public information event, where the project team will be available to discuss the proposals.
It will be held at Olympia Community Centre, Boucher Road, Belfast on Wednesday 7 September from 4pm to 7pm.

Work begins on £20m Mourne water treatment works
Regional Development Minister Peter Robinson has helped to lay the foundations of the new £20 million Mourne Water Treatment Works at Drumaroad, near Castlewellan. It will be the largest Water Treatment Works to be constructed in Northern Ireland and will treat 155 million litres of water per day, supplied from the Silent Valley in the Mournes.

Water Service moves to prevent cryptosporidium contamination
DRD Water Service has made substantial progress in implementing a series of recommendations designed to prevent a repeat outbreak of cryptosporidium in the public water supply. The measures were outlined in a recently published report into the cryptosporidium contamination that occurred at Dunore Point water supply earlier this year.
