Sarah-Jane Mee To Replace Eamon Holmes On Sky News Sunrise

Sky News has announced that Sarah-Jane Mee is to replace Eamon Holmes on its breakfast programme 'Sunrise'.

Belfast born Holmes has anchored the show for 11 years, however he recently announced he was stepping down from the role to pursue other projects.

Mee is currently working for Sky News and Sky Sports and her presenting jobs have included Saturday Night Football and Cricket AM.

She said: "I'm so excited about returning to the Sunrise hotseat; taking over from Eamonn is a real honour and I feel privileged that I will be starting the day with Sunrise viewers around the UK and beyond. Live news is always such a thrill, you never know where the morning will take you and I looking forward to finding out."

Mee will be on air from Monday 17th October.

TV presenter Eamonn Holmes from Belfast is stepping down from hosting Sky News Sunrise to pursue other projects. Holmes, who has anchored the show for 11 years, confirmed he is leaving on his Facebook page.

Vote of confidence for NI news services
A study of television and other news sources in the UK has found that only 4% of Northern Ireland viewers are dissatisfied with the provision of local news services. The research carried out by the Independent Television Commission (ITC) and Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC) found this was the lowest dissatisfaction rate in the UK.

Libya 'To Resist' IRA Victims' Compensation Claims
Libya will resist demands for compensation payouts from the families of victims of IRA bombings, Sky News has reported. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi, told Sky News that any claims of compensation from victims of bombings where Libya supplied the IRA with Semtex, would be a matter for the courts.

Millions Watch 'Banned' Gaza Aid Appeal
It has emerged that more than 4.5 million people watched an emergency appeal for aid in Gazza last night, even though neither the BBC nor Sky News showed the charity plea. The BBC and Sky chose not to air the three-minute appeal because they feared it would cloud their impartiality, but ITV, Channel 4 and Five all decided to screen it.
