Belfast Bike Scheme Wins At Cycle Planning Awards
The Coca-Cola Zero Belfast Bikes scheme has been named 'Best Integrated Community Hub or Cycle Scheme' at the annual Cycle Planning Awards, held in London.
The bike hire scheme was launched by Belfast City Council in April 2015 and so far has attracted more than 4,000 annual subscribers.
Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Brian Kingston, said: "To receive national recognition for the Belfast Bikes scheme is terrific news. It shows that we have a scheme which is on a par with those across the United Kingdom, and is a tremendous tribute to everyone who has been involved in making the Belfast Bikes the success they are today."
The Coca-Cola Zero Belfast Bikes are operated by NSL on behalf of Belfast City Council, with the support of the Department for Infrastructure. Since the scheme was launched last April, more than a quarter of a million journeys have been undertaken around the city.
