Trading Standards advise on Shop Electric & Electric World closure
Over 150 people have contacted the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment’s Trading Standards Service (TSS) concerned at the news that Shop Electric and Electric World stores have closed stores across Northern Ireland.
Most queries relate to products bought but not delivered because of the timescale of the news.
While customers who have paid for goods on their credit cards and who have not received them have been advised to contact their credit card provider, TSS has issued a set of guidelines for people who have bought products.
Anyone who has bought goods from Shop Electric/Electric World which are faulty are asked to contact TSS Consumerline who are taking details regarding the faults and forwarding them on to the Receivers, KPMG 17/25 College Square East, BT1 6DH.
In addition, any customers who have paid for goods using a credit card or through a credit agreement you should contact the credit card company/credit company immediately.
If goods have been paid for but haven't been delivered TSS Consumerline will collate details regarding the goods paid for and forward details to KPMG for their information.
If a Credit Agreement has been agreed through Shop Electric/Electric World and the goods haven’t been received, customers should contact the credit company immediately and inform them of the situation. These details are also being collated and forwarded to the receivers.
If goods have been bought on interest free credit and the interest free period is coming to an end TSS Consumerline is advising customers currently paying a direct debit to the credit company to forward the amount outstanding to the credit company via recorded delivery for proof.
If the customer has been paying over the counter in Shop Electric/Electric World they can send their payment to KPMG who will forward the payment to the Credit Company or alternatively send it direct to the Credit company. The customer should also ensure that the direct debit to the Credit Company is cancelled.

A call centre has also been set up to handle all customer inquiries on 0845 6040516.
