Smith welcomes GB victims report
Victims Minister, Angela Smith has welcomed the launch of an independent report on the needs of victims of the 'Troubles' living in Great Britain.
Launching 'The Legacy Project' report at an event held in the Houses of Parliament to celebrate the work of the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust, the Minister said: "This report is the first needs analysis assessment of its kind into the experiences of victims and survivors of the 'Troubles', living in Great Britain.
"This study is the first attempt to parallel in Great Britain the Bloomfield Report of 1998 and I look forward to studying its content and recommendations in detail over the coming weeks.
"Since my appointment as Victims Minister in June, I have been working towards the development of the next generation of victims' policy and this research will make a timely contribution to the process."
The Needs Analysis, which forms part of the work of the Legacy Project, examines the needs of former soldiers, victims of bombings in Great Britain, their families, bereaved families of soldiers killed in the conflict, those forced into exile in Great Britain as a result of paramilitary intimidation, and members of the emergency services.
The Legacy Project, an initiative of the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust, is funded by the NIO.

Victims Commissioner appointment not quashed
A High Court ruling has not quashed the appointment of Bertha McDougall as the Northern Ireland Interim Victims Commissioner. However, in his ruling Lord Justice Girvan said that the appointment was "improper and politically motivated.
