Ireland Secure Victory Against All Blacks

The Ireland Rugby team have secured their first ever victory against New Zealand following their match at Soldier's Field, Chicago.

The final score was 40-29 to the Irish men on Saturday, 05 November, ending an 111-year wait for a win against the opposition. Ireland scored five tries in total.

Commenting after the game, Ireland captain and Ulster Rugby player Rory Best said: "It's been a long time coming and history has been made. You can see how good a side they are and how much it means to our boys."

Minister 'Regrets' Loss Of United Airlines Flight

Economy Minister Simon Hamilton has said there is "deep regret" at United Airline's decision to stop its Belfast to Newark, New York, route.

In a statement, the Minister said: "The Executive did the right thing with its bid to save this key route. There was a risk to the flight and we stepped in to save it.

"Faced with the same circumstances again I would make the same decisions. All public money has been recouped with interest and we retained the route for a longer period."

Last week, the airline said it was to cease its only regular direct air link between the region and the United States. It is understood the last departure from Belfast will be on 09 January, 2017, with the last departure from Newark, New York, the day before.

Man Seriously Injured In L'Derry

A man has been seriously injured following an assault in L'Derry on Sunday, 06 November.

The incident happened in the Waterloo Street area of the city at around 1.30am.

It is understood the man, in his 20s, was involved in an altercation with two other men.

He is currently being treated in hospital. His injuries are thought to be serious.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector James Mullan said: "At this time we think that a number of other men came to try and break up the fight in Waterloo Street."

He added that anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, or to contact Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Union Support Drops
The proportion of people who wish for Northern Ireland to remain in the UK has dropped from 72% to 63% since 2010. The figure is the lowest since devolution in 2007, especially among Catholics. This was one of the findings of the 2012 Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey (NILT) published today.

United Airlines To Cut Belfast-NY Route
