PSNI Announce Info Events For New Firearm Certificate Applications
The Police Service of Northern Ireland have announced a number of information events to showcase new technology for firearm certificate applications.
The events with Firearm Certificate Holders, have been arranged in partnership with NI Direct
Prior to the introduction of the online application process which will be introduced in the New Year for initial/re-grant and variation of a firearm certificate, staff from Firearms and Explosives Branch of the Police Service of Northern Ireland will be hosting a number of roadshows in venues across Northern Ireland to highlight the new application process.
Discussing the new process Nichola Murphy, Head of Firearms and Explosives Branch said: "We have been working with our IT department and NI Direct to develop a robust online application process. The new application will ensure we are more effective and efficient in delivering our services to the public.
"I would encourage anyone who will be applying for an initial grant, re-grant or variation in the future to come to one of our roadshows, which will provide them with an opportunity to complete an application form online.
"The roadshows will give a Firearm Certificate Holder the opportunity to try at first hand the new online technology and also gives us the opportunity to go through the new process step by step with them."
The events will be held in the following venues across Northern Ireland:
• 21 November 2016 – Derry Central Library - 4pm and 6.30pm
• 22 November 2016 – *Clothworthy House, Antrim 4pm and 6.30pm
• 24 November 2016 – Dungannon Library - 3.45pm and 6.15pm
• 29 November 2016 – Omagh Library - 4pm and 6.30pm
• 1 December 2016 – Lisburn City Library - 4pm and 6.30pm
There will be two events per day at each location. Each event will last approximately one and half hours.

Man Arrested And Firearm Recovered In West Belfast
A 33-year-old man has been arrested and a suspected firearm recovered during a police operation in west Belfast on the evening og Sunday, 07 July. Inspector McCullough said: "Officers carried out planned searches at two properties in the Kashmir Road area of the city – where a suspected firearm and other items were seized from one of the addresses.

Man Arrested And Firearm Recovered In L'Derry
A man has been arrested and a suspected firearm recovered by the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit (TIU) in L'Derry. On Tuesday 21st May, as part of an ongoing operation, officers stopped and searched a vehicle in the Letterkenny Road area of the city at approximately 6.45pm – recovering a suspected firearm and ammunition.

Appeal Over Ballymena Jewellery Robbery
Police have appealed for information following an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Ballymena, County Antrim. Three men, one armed with a suspected firearm, went into the shop on Victoria Street at about 17:00 on Monday evening. The men then threatened members of staff and forced them to lie on the ground.

Foster Encourages Tourism Industry To 'Scale New Heights'
Tourism Minister Arlene Foster has encouraged those in the industry to build on the momentum of the past two years in order to "scale new heights". The Minister made the comments while speaking at the Northern Ireland Tourist Board's (NITB) annual conference. "The past two years have been unprecedented for tourism in Northern Ireland," she said.
