Man Killed In Road Traffic Collision In Newtownstewart
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Co Tyrone.
A man was fatally injured when he was hit by a car on Strabane Road, Newtownstewart at around 6.30pm on Monday evening.
It is understood that the car involved was a black Vauxhall Vectra, that failed to stop at the scene.
Police want to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area between 6.20pm and 6.35pm on Monday and may have seen what happened.
Holywood Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A 38-year-old man has been convicted of benefit fraud at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
The court heard that Joseph McStraw, of Church Green, Holywood claimed Income Support totalling £5,679 while failing to declare his partner's employment.
He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Nominations Sought For Derrytrasna Pastoral Care Awards
The Department of Education are seeking nominations for this years Derrytrasna Pastoral Care Awards.
Education Minister, Peter Weir and Valerie Watts, Interim Chief Executive of the Public Health Agency, are encouraging more nominations for this year's awards.
Minister Weir said: "Exceptional pastoral care is about the help and support offered to pupils by teachers or the school community to the challenges and difficulties young people face today. Schools that go above and beyond to make a real difference to their pupils lives. There are many schools that provide exceptional care and should rightly be recognised for their important work in this area.
"The nominations received last year, demonstrate the value that communities place on our schools and I would encourage more entries this year."
The Derrytrasna Pastoral Care Award provides recognition to school communities that have demonstrated exceptional co-operative effort in supporting the pastoral care of pupils and their families. There will be one award for the pre-school, primary and post-primary sectors.
