PSNI To Host Firearms Certificate Information Event
The PSNI and NI Direct are to host a series of events with Firearms Certificate Holders to showcase new technology for firearms applications.
Prior to the introduction of the online application process, which will be introduced in the New Year for initial/re-grant or variation on a firearms certificate, staff from the Firearms and Explosives Branch of the Police Service will be hosting a roadshow in Dungannon and Omagh Libraries to highlight the new application process.
Nichola Murphy, Head of Firearms and Explosives Branch, explained: "We have been working with our IT department and NI Direct to develop a robust online application process. The new application will ensure we are more effective and efficient in delivering our services to the public.
"I would encourage anyone who will be applying for an initial grant, re-grant or variation in the future to come to one of the Dungannon Library roadshows, which will provide them with an opportunity to complete an application form online."
The events will be held at the following locations:
• 21 November – Derry Central Library – 4pm and 6.30pm
• 22 November – Clothworthy House, Antrim – 4pm and 6.30pm
• 24 November – Dungannon Library – 3.45pm and 6.15pm
• 29 November – Omagh Library – 4pm and 6.30pm
• 1 December – Lisburn City Library – 4pm and 6.30pm.
There will be two events per day at each location. Each event will last approximately one and half hours.
Two Men Arrested Following Assault At L'Derry Home
Two men have been arrested in connection with the assault of a 25-year-old man at his home in Londonderry.
Police reported that they made the arrests following an incident at the man's home on Glenabbey Street at around 5.40am this morning, 14 November.
The victim was treated in hospital for a head injury but has since been discharged.
Police investigating the assault arrested two men, aged 23 and 26, at around 11am in the Cairnhill area.
They remain in police custody.
24-Hour Bus Lanes To Have Hours Reduced
Three 24-hour bus lanes in Belfast are to have their hours reduced following complaints about the cameras operating when buses are not.
According to a report by the BBC, the bus lanes – one which passes Central Station, one on the Upper Newtownards Road and one on the Saintfield Road – will have their hours of operation reduced to 7am to 7pm.
It is understood that more than 2,000 people received fines for using the lanes overnight, when buses don't run in Belfast.

Road users are advised to plan for potential traffic delays in the south Belfast area on Friday, 15th November due to the UEFA Nations League football match between Northern Ireland and Belarus. The match will take place at Windsor Park, kicking off at 7.45pm, and it is expected that around 18,000 supporters will attend.
