Cold Callers Target Elderly Residents In Ballymoney
Elderly and vulnerable residents in the Ballymoney area are being targeted by cold callers requesting that they hand over any new £5 notes.
A man and woman claiming to be from the government are asking residents to return all notes to them as they are no longer of legal tender.
Police have issued a warning to the public to be aware of the scam and to "keep an eye out" for any elderly friends or relatives who may be targeted.
They are also appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

New Dissident Group Will 'Actively Target Crown Forces'
A new Belfast-based dissident republican group, calling themselves the Irish Republican Movement (IRM), have issued a death threat to anyone who is involved in the drugs trade. It is understood that the group released an image of a number of heavily armed men alongside a statement to the Irish News.

Environment Minister Alex Attwood today announced his plans to introduce a statutory 60% recycling target for Northern Irish households. The target goes beyond the 50% household waste recycling rate requirement set out by Europe and will have to be achieved by 2020.

Northern Ireland consumers are being warned to be vigilant against bogus doorstep callers who prey on the elderly and vulnerable. The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment’s Trading Standards Service, (TSS) is highlighting the problem during National Consumer Week, which started yesterday and will last until November 24.

Arsonists have targeted a community centre that works with local elderly people in Londonderry. The fire at the Galliagh Community Development Group office in Fergleen Park was discovered at about 11pm last night.
