'Go-2-Tender' Workshops Announced
InterTradeIreland has announced two workshops in L'Derry, aimed at giving Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) the confidence, knowledge and practical skills to successfully tender for public sector contracts.
The 'Go-2-Tender' programme will also be particularly useful for businesses interested in cross-border business.
The programme consists of two days of workshops with a half day mentoring for every participant company. Eligible participant companies can also apply for up to a further two days of mentoring from an experienced consultant to assist with tender development.
Day one of the workshop will include:
• How to source above and below threshold contract opportunities
• The bid/no bid decision
• How the Public Sector buys (North and South)
• How to assess opportunities using live examples
• Electronic tender platforms (e.g. eTendersNI & eTenders.ie)
• Success strategies for SMEs
Day two will include:
• How to become more competitive
• Improving your document writing skills
• Checklist of tender content and how it should be presented
• Debriefing following tender competitions
• Action planning for successful tendering
The event will take place on 17 and 31 January, 2017 at City Hotel, L'Derry, and cost £85.

There has been a welcome for a new, simplified tendering process for Northern Ireland businesses. A member of Stormont's Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee, Robin Newton, greeted yesterday's announcement by Finance Minister Nigel Dodds of a new, simplified electronic tendering system.

Finance Minister Sammy Wilson has responded to a press release issued by the SDLP’s Pat Ramsey on tendering in L'Derry, describing it as "misleading". SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has released a press statement which said only 13% of companies in the Foyle Constituency area had been successful in government tenders.
