Boy Critical After Being Hit By Car In Co Antrim

A nine-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in County Antrim.

The incident occurred close to Straidbilly Primary School in Liscolman just before 4.30pm on Tuesday, 10 January.

The boy was taken to Causeway Hospital, however he had to be airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Four-year-old boy dies in Scottish road crash
A four-year-old boy from Northern Ireland has died following a road traffic collision in Scotland. James Hayes, from Omagh in Co Tyrone died following the crash between a car and a motorcycle outside the village of Maybole at around 12.30pm on Monday. A Scottish man also died in the accident which involved a Peugeot 106 car and a Yamaha motorcycle.

Assaulted teenager in critical condition
A teenage youth assaulted in west Belfast at the weekend is in critical condition in hospital. The 16-year-old, who has been named as James Doherty, was assaulted in the Downfine Gardens area of the Turf Lodge estate. The youth was forced to the ground and kicked about the head during the attack.

Man Critical After Being Hit By Car In Co Tyrone
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Co Tyrone. The accident happened on the Strabane Road in Newtownstewart on Monday, 24 October. He is currently in intensive care at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The road has been reopened.

Woman Critical Following Serious Road Crash In Co Down
A woman is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious road crash in Co Down. The collision occurred on the A1 between Dromore and Hillsborough at around 3.30am on Sunday, 09 October. She is currently being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The road has been closed in both directions.

Two dead and one injured in County Antrim crash
Two people have been killed in a head-on collision in County Antrim. The collision occured on the Ballybogey Road just after 12.35pm on Thursday. One other person has been taken to hospital and is in a critical condition. Police have advised that the Ballybogey Road is closed and that emergency services are at the scene.
