SSE Airtricity Announces Gas Price Rise

More than 140,000 SSE Airtricity customers are to see a 7% rise in their monthly gas bill from the end of March.

The company has said that the price increase is a result of "sustained increases in global wholesale gas costs which have risen by over 50% in the last 12 months".

The average household gas bill is expected to increase £36 a year.
