Triumph for NI winners at UK Training Awards

Three local organisations triumphed at the UK ceremony of the National Training Awards 2003 held in the illustrious setting of London’s Guildhall last night.

St Anne’s Primary School, Derry; RNIB NI ‘Through Windows Project’ and Newtownabbey Borough Council were presented with UK Special National Training Awards by top television star Joanna Lumley at the glitzy ceremony.

UK Special awards are given to those organisations that deserve to be selected for special commendation from the elite group of National award winners.

Congratulating all the award winners, Alan Shannon, Permanent Secretary at the Department for Employment and Learning said: "Northern Ireland organisations and individuals continue to excel in the National Training Awards. Each year they produce outstanding examples of training excellence, which are deservedly recognised and rewarded.

"All three winners have already swept the board at the recent Northern Ireland training awards event in Belfast. To receive a UK Special award proves what exceptional success stories they really are and is the icing on a cake for the sheer effort and determination they have shown in investing in people to achieve success in business."
