Two People Escape Injury After Light Aircraft Crash

Two people have escaped injury after a light aircraft incident in Co Down.

Emergency services were alerted to an airfield in Newtownards at around 11.15am on Thursday, 23 March.

A spokesperson from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said: "One Rapid Response Vehicle and one A&E crew attended. Following assessment and treatment by a paramedic, two patients were discharged at the scene."

Bombardier shelves CSeries project
Aircraft manufacturer Bombardier has shelved its planned 110 to 130-seater CSeries airliner as it shifts resources to work on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Bombardier announced that "present market conditions do not justify the launch of the CSeries jet at this time".

Two People Escape Serious Injury In Light Aircraft Crash
Two people have escaped serious injury following a light aircraft crash in Co Down. The incident happened near Castlewellan Forest Park just before 5pm on Monday, 29 May. Police confirmed two people were treated at the scene in the Dolly's Bare area, however their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.

Victims Of Light Aircraft Crash Named
The victims of a light aircraft crash in Newtownards have been named as Philip Murdock and Caroline Mawhinney. The were both members of the Ulster Flying Club and died in the crash just after 8.20pm on Tuesday. Mr Murdock was the Managing Director of security firm Envision Intelligent Solutions in Craigavon.

Pair Escape Injury After Light Aircraft Crash In Co Tyrone
Two people have managed to avoid any serious injuries after a light aircraft crashed in County Tyrone yesterday evening, Wednesday 15 May. The incident happened near the Annaghnaboe Road outside Coalisland at around 8.30pm. Police, paramedics, and the fire service responded to the emergency call.
