'Little Progress' Made During Stormont Talks

Little progress has been made on the current talks at Stormont to form a new power-sharing Executive, according to Sinn Féin.

Michelle O'Neill MLA claimed the DUP and the UK government have not focused on the key issues.

She said: "Sinn Féin entered these talks on the basis of securing the implementation of previous agreements and the restoration of the political institutions on the basis of equality, respect and integrity.

"We have fully engaged in these discussions but so there have been a lot of meetings but little progress on the key issues.

"It's clear that the British government and the DUP have not focused on the key issues, which were at the heart of the recent election.

"We want to see the institutions work but they must work on the basis of equality, integrity and respect and delivery for all."

If an agreement is not made a second election may take place or direct rule.
