McCue Helps Complete Inpatient Ward Block At Ulster Hospital
NI firm McCue Crafted Fit took part in the completion of the new Inpatient Ward Block at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.
The company provided interiors for the new Phase B Inpatient Ward Block, in particular, for the 288 single en-suite bedrooms. McCue used cutting edge materials and technology for advanced infection control.
The firm used the latest Corian solid surface material for the walls and surfaces in the en-suite bathrooms, because of its hygienic properties and its durability. The product is thermoformed, with no seams or joints, allowing for tighter infection control with the appropriate upkeep and maintenance.
Les McCracken, Managing Director, McCue Crafted Fit, said: "McCue is proud to have played our part in some way in providing Northern Ireland a new Ward Block in the Ulster Hopsital. By supplying the most advanced infection control materials and utilising our bespoke joinery and workmanship we have ensured that it is fit for purpose and the 21st Century.
"Corian is on the cutting edge of hospital infection control, and McCue Crafted Fit is a certified network-approved provider in Northern Ireland. The applications for this materials are endless, with some customers even requesting the material to be used in their kitchens and bathrooms."
UUP Supports Hyde Park Justice Campaign
Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist MP for South Antrim, has pledged his full support to the campaign to fund a civil court action against the chief suspect in the 1982 Hyde Park bombing, John Downey.
He said: "The 1982 Hyde Park bombing, which claimed the lives of four soldiers and seven cavalry horses, was one of many heinous crimes committed by the IRA during the Troubles. On the same day the IRA also detonated a separate bomb at Regent's Park, which killed seven bandsmen of the Royal Green Jackets.
"One of those murdered at Hyde Park that day was Lieutenant Anthony Daly who was married just four weeks previously. I remember that because I was his best man, and shortly after his murder I commanded his burial party.
"The fact that John Downey, the chief suspect, was able to walk free from court in 2014 because he was in possession of a so-called 'comfort letter' sent to 'on the run' IRA terrorists, was a clear distortion of the justice system.
"The ruling that the victims' families were not granted legal aid to fund a civil case against John Downey, unbelievably because it was not deemed to be in the public interest, added further anguish. I have previously called for the Government to step in and provide legal aid to the families, which they have refused to do.
"The Hyde Park Justice Campaign, publicised in The Sun newspaper, aims to raise the £650,000 required to fund a legal case against John Downey. It has my full support and I commend Sarahjane Young and Mark Tipper, whose father and brother were murdered in the bombing respectively, for their tireless campaigning."
SF Welcomes Deery Ruling
Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Raymond McCartney has welcomed the findings from the Coroner that L'Derry schoolboy Manus Deery was 'totally innocent' when he was shot dead by the British Army in the Bogside almost 45 years ago.
A British soldier who shot dead Manus Deery was unjustified in discharging the fatal round, a coroner has ruled.
He said: "This was a 15-year-old boy who was shot dead by British soldiers as he chatted with friends.
"The Deery family are entitled to the truth about the killing of Manus and hopefully today's decision will help them in their quest for justice in setting the truth free."
