Jet2 Announces New Routes From Belfast International Airport

Airline Jet2 has announced eight new routes from Belfast International Airport.

The new routes are Antalya, Costa de Almeria, Crete, Madeira, Malta, Naples, Paphos and Rhodes.

Managing Director of the Airport, Graham Keddie, said: "Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays will offer over 400,000 seats for Summer ’18 and that will deliver enormous additional choice for the Northern Ireland holiday-maker.

"A fourth aircraft – in this case, a larger Boeing 737-800 – is a multi-million pound commitment and the clearest possible signal by the airline that Northern Ireland is a good place to invest.

"This is a most welcome boost, coming only forty-eight hours after we helped to host a most successful Route Europe Conference in Northern Ireland which attracted 114 airlines and representatives from 370 airports and about 40 tourism organisations."

UUP Economy spokesperson Alan Chambers welcomed the announcement.

He said: "The organisers of the Routes Europe Conference at the Waterfront Hall deserve great credit and the announcement of new Jet2 routes from Belfast International Airport is very encouraging news. Giving holiday makers and business users here more choice and options in travelling to Europe is positive, but of course what we want to see are routes which will bring tourists into Northern Ireland. We need to open up more opportunities for our already vibrant tourism industry."
