Foster 'Uplifted' After Meeting Irish Language Students
DUP leader Arlene Foster said she had been "uplifted" after meeting Irish language students at a school in Newry.
Mrs Foster met with pupils from Our Lady's Grammar School on Wednesday, 26 April.
In February she said more people spoke Polish than Irish in Northern Ireland and declared the party would never agree to an act protecting the language.
However, she exchanged words with pupils and teachers including "go raibh maith agat", which means thank you.
Mrs Foster said: "There's nothing to fear from engaging with another culture, in fact, I think it's a sign of strength if you engage with another culture that's not your own and I have to say I was really uplifted this morning by the girls and what they were able to tell me and what they were able to show me.
"We had a lovely piece of drama, we had a song. We listened to their experiences and it's wonderful."

Green Party leader Steven Agnew said he does not support "Sinn Fein bringing this country to its knees". At his party's conference in Belfast, Mr Agnew said that while he supports an Irish Language act he claimed Sinn Fein in particular was responsible chaos in health and education sectors in NI due to the lack of budget.
