Fight To Protect Daisyhill 'Must Continue' - SF
Sinn Féin has said that the fight to protect emergency services at Daisy Hill Hospital "must continue".
Speaking after a public meeting Newry/Armagh MP Mickey Brady said: "At today's meeting myself, Cathal Boylan and Megan Fearon all pointed out the inequality between Daisy Hill and Craigavon.
"Newry is on the main Dublin to Belfast corridor and is very much dependent on the emergency services provided by Daisy Hill.
"Daisy Hill also provides for people living along the border corridor and as such the loss of the emergency services will be detrimental.
“On the back of today's meeting the Trust has announced a regional summit on options to sustain the Emergency Department at Daisy Hill Hospital.
"While I welcome this initiative I hope it has a positive outcome.
"We need to keep the momentum going and continue the fight to protect the services Daisy Hill Hospital."

DoH Prioritises Stabilising Services At Daisy Hill Hospitals
Representatives of the Department of Health (DoH) have met with Daisy Hill Hospital campaigners to discuss the ongoing work to stabilise services. The DoH has told the campaigners that priorities for this stabilisation work include safeguarding service provision, minimising potential bed reductions and protecting the Emergency Department.

Man dies and two hospitalised in fishing tragedy
A 22-year-old man has died in Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry, after a fishing boat - the Kilkeel based Charisma - capsized and sank today in Rostrevor Bay, Carlingford Lough. The man has been named locally as Mr Mark Spears, from the Kilkeel/Rostrevor area.

Funding Announced For Emergency Care At Daisy Hill Hospital
A total of £1.65 million is to be invested to fund emergency care at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry. The money will be used towards transforming and modernising services and also strengthening the workforce, according to the Department of Health.

Despite well-publicised public sector cut-backs, Co Down is to get a major health boost soon. NI Health Minister Michael McGimpsey has said that Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry is to benefit from a new state-of-the-art '64 slice' CT Scanner that is costing £600,000.
