Seven People Rescued From Two Islands In Strangford Lough
Seven people have been rescued by the RNLI after coming stranded on two islands in Strangford Lough.
Five men and two women had been sailing around the lough on Wednesday, 03 May, and dropped three of them off at Green Island.
The cabin cruiser they were in developed electrical problems as it made its way to Salt Island.
A Portferry lifeboat was launched shortly before 11.20am and all seven people were safely taken to shore at Killyleagh.
Brian Bailie, lifeboat operations manager with Portaferry RNLI, said: "Once again all the hard work and hours invested in training has paid off with a happy ending.
"With the start of the good weather and more and more craft taking to the water, it is increasingly important that everyone respects the water and makes all the necessary checks before going on the water."

Over 800 young people from schools in Lisburn and Castlereagh attended a hard-hitting road safety message at the PSNI Road Safe Roadshow on 19 November. The roadshow, supported by AXA Insurance and the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership, aims to educate young drivers about the dangers of irresponsible driving.
