Funds To Be Released For Ebrington Greenway
Capital funds are to be released for the delivery of the Ebrington Greenway in L'Derry.
The proposals are part of the wider North West Multi-Modal Transport Hub project.
The project will promote cross-border intermodal and sustainable mobility in the North-West region, which will assist residents and visitors to move away from car journeys towards active and sustainable travel through walking, cycling and using public transport.
Plans include the development of a new Multimodal Transport Hub on the site of the former Waterside Railway Station at an estimated total cost of €33.39 million of which DFI are seeking support from SEUPB of €20m.
Director of Environment and Regeneration with Derry City and Strabane District Council Karen Phillips said: "Council is the lead partner in developing the connectivity element of the project which aims to develop a new greenway link from the Multimodal Hub into the existing Urban Greenway Network along the river to the Peace Bridge."
Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Coleraine Magistrates' Court.
Anthony Mitchell claimed Job Seeker’s Allowance totalling £3,942 while failing to declare capital above £16,000. He was given a 18 month Conditional Discharge.
Mr Mitchell has repaid any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Alliance Hopes Search Leads To Disappeared Discovery
Alliance Justice spokesperson Trevor Lunn has said he hopes a fresh search for one of the Disappeared leads to the discovery of the body in order to bring comfort and closure to his loved ones.
The search by the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains is taking place in a forest outside Rouen in northern France.
It concerns the remains of Seamus Ruddy, who was abducted in Paris by the INLA in 1985. He is believed to have been buried in France. A number of previous searches in the area have ended unsuccessfully.
He said: "The issue of the Disappeared and the victims who were murdered and buried in secret is one of the darkest parts of the Troubles.
"I hope this search leads to the discovery of the body of Seamus Ruddy so his loved ones can have the comfort and closure they deserve, in order to allow them to mourn properly. They have already suffered a double tragedy - not only have they experienced the initial loss but they have been unable to hold a proper burial."

Greenway Development Support Announced For Councils
