PSNI Attacked By Youths In L'Derry

The PSNI have been attacked by youths throwing stones at police vehicles in L'Derry.

The incident happened as officers were searching a property in the Carnhill area on Sunday, 14 May.

A number of items including suspected Class A and B controlled drugs, prescription medicines and drug paraphernalia, as well as a number of electronic storage devices were seized by police for further examination.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch said: "This investigation is ongoing. We are committed to tackling illegal drugs and keeping communities safe. I would continue to appeal to members of the public to come forward with any information about the supply or use of illegal drugs by contacting police on the non-emergency number 101.

"Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Cannabis Factory Discovered In Co L'Derry
Three men have been arrested after police seized cannabis, worth an estimated £125,000, during a house search in Limavady, Co L'Derry. The cannabis factory was uncovered during a police operation on Wednesday. A number of other drugs paraphernalia was also seized. The suspects are currently in police custody.

PSNI Warning Over Drug-Related Deaths
The PSNI has said that a senior detective has been coordinating investigations in drug-related deaths last year. The deaths have been the subject of detailed investigation locally by District officers. Detective Superintendent McMullan's investigations are said to be attempting to ensure "any possible linkages are made and progressed".
