Appeal Issued Over Serious Assault In Newtownards
Police have appealed for information following a serious assault in Newtownards, County Down.
A man is being treated in hospital for "severe injuries" he sustained when he was attacked at a house in Mark Street on Thursday.
It is understood that police were informed of the situation yesterday afternoon, after the man was admitted to hospital earlier in the day.
Police have said that they are trying to established how the man sustained his injuries and appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Co Antrim Man Found Dead In Ibiza Sustained Head Injuries
A County Antrim man found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza sustained head injuries, according to Ireland's expert State Pathologist. Alan Drennan, 21, was found dead just 24 hours after arriving in Ibiza. Mr Drennan was detained by Spanish police when he arrived on the holiday island, and friends claim that he was attacked by the police.

Police and the family of 30-year-old Hugh McKay are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety. Mr McKay was last seen after he left his home in the Dundarve estate in Bushmills at around 11.30pm yesterday evening. Two rescue teams are currently searching the area, while a coastguard helicopter carried out an overnight aerial search.

Police in Larne are becoming increasingly concerned about the welfare of 38-year-old Ian Black. Mr Black has not been seen since he left work on the Shore Road area of Newtownabbey at around 7pm on Tuesday evening. The following day, his blue coloured Ford Focus type car was found abandoned close to a forest in the Shaneshill Road in Larne.
