Ed Sheeran To Play In Belfast Next Year
Ed Sheeran has announced he is to play in Belfast next year.
He is to perform at Boucher Playing Fields on 09 May as part of his new UK and Europe stadium tour.
He will also play at Dublin's Phoenix Park, Pairc ui Chaoimh in Cork and Pearse Stadium in Galway.
Tickets go on sale on Saturday, 08 July, at 9am.
Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation Maurice Quinlivan TD has welcomed the decision by Ed Sheeran and Aiken Promotions to invalidate tickets bought for huge prices on secondary ticketing websites.
He said: "I am very happy to see Ed Sheeran and Aiken Promotions taking such proactive action tackling ticket touting, which would not have been necessary if Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil had not blocked my Bill regulating ticket sales for entertainment events last month.
"Tickets for Ed Sheeran's upcoming concerts must be accompanied by evidence of original purchase, and legitimate secondary sales can only take place on the designated resale partner website, which only allows resale at face value. This will allow real fans to buy tickets and will prevent touts and companies snatching up all the tickets and selling them on for extortionate prices.
"It is a shame that music artists have had to take action themselves, as a result of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael blocking my Bill that would have regulated this area. My Sale of Tickets (Sporting and Cultural Events) Bill 2017 aimed to take the profit out of ticket resales and protect consumers from unfair market practices.
"The Bill came before the Dáil in May and the government decided to kick it down the road for at least nine months, helped along by support from Fianna Fáil.
"Although the decision by Ed Sheeran and Aiken Promotions in this case is very welcome and I commend them for taking such action, not every artist or sports team will do this, so the issue of ticket touting will persist until legislation is brought in at national level."

Campaign To Address Emergency Dept Missing Person Reports
The PSNI and Health & Social Care Board (HSCB) have launched a joint campaign to reduce the number of patients being reported missing from Emergency Departments (ED). The awareness campaign aims to stop patients from leaving the ED without telling a member of ED staff. The initiative will run across all emergency departments.

Almost £300,000 Lost To Ticket Fraud In 2023
People have been urged to be wary of scammers when booking concert and event tickets, after figures revealed that almost £300,000 was lost to ticket fraud in Northern Ireland in 2023. Data from Action Fraud shows nationally £6.7 million was lost to this type of crime. In Northern Ireland the total reported losses came in at £291,344.
