Public Consultation Launches To Redevelop Portrush Train Station
A public consultation has been launched to redevelop Portrush Train Station, Co Antrim.
Translink plans to invest £5.5million in the new development.
Work on the new station is expected to be completed in Spring 2019, subject to planning approval.
Translink's Head of Project Delivery John Glass, said: "Portrush Train Station is a key gateway to the Causeway Coast and has a key role in supporting local tourism, as such; this redevelopment is an important project for the area.
"The proposed designs will provide fully accessible, modern waiting facilities, while also helping to enhance the image and regenerate the surrounding area as part of the Portrush Regeneration Programme.
"The plans also incorporate improved passenger information and signage to local amenities and attractions and enhanced frontage onto Eglinton Street, creating a more prominent sense of arrival to the town.
"The designs also ensure high environmental standards in line with our commitment to enhance and protect the local landscape and biodiversity with provision for enhanced cycle storage for active travel and greener tourism links."

The Open golf competition is to return to Northern Ireland in 2019, it has been confirmed. The Royal Portrush Golf Club is to host the sport's oldest competiton for the first time since it was last hosted at the venue in 1951.

Detectives have renewed an appeal for information following a deliberate arson attack at a vacant property in the Weaver's Grange area of Newtownards. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 17 November, 2023. Police and firefighters were called to the scene at around 12:40am.

The public is being urged to stay away from dangerous cliff edges when visiting beaches on the north coast. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) said the recent winter storms have dramatically changed the profile of beaches at Whiterocks, Portrush East and Portstewart creating high sand cliffs which are unstable.
