Smart Belfast Collaborative Challenge Announced
Belfast City Council and Invest Northern Ireland have announced the launch of the Smart Belfast Collaborative Challenge on Tuesday 26 September 2017.
Aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, the scheme will provide funding and expertise for collaborative projects, which have the potential to address urban challenges facing Belfast and other cities today. Initially, up to £25,000 will be available for up to eight groups seeking to explore innovation in:
• urban transport
• the visitor experience
• the circular economy
• active living
• the management of the public estate
Additional funding may be available for proposals that can demonstrate business growth potential.
The Collaborative Challenge is part of the Smart Belfast framework. Its goal is to build on Belfast's digital sector strengths and encourage greater innovation and collaboration between local businesses, universities and the public sector to better understand, analyse and tackle urban challenges.
The framework will launch at Belfast City Hall at 09:30 on Tuesday 26 September 2017. The event will feature:
• contributions from leading urban technologists
• a Smart Belfast marketplace
• networking opportunities for companies
• a chance for businesses to showcase their digital innovations
The launch event is free to attend and pre-registration is required.
