Council To Host Event Over Plans For New Play Park In Belfast
Belfast City Council is to host a public information event on updated plans for a new park and playground in Belfast.
The development is to be located between Old Golf Course Road and Upper Dunmurry Lane.
The public is being urged to give their views at the event which is taking place in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Upper Dunmurry Lane on Thursday, 24 August, from 4pm to 8pm.
Councillor Deirdre Hargey, Chairperson of Belfast City Council's Strategic Policy and Resources Committee said: "Our plans to invest £230,000 in creating a new park and playground between Old Golf Course Road and Upper Dunmurry Lane received an overwhelmingly positive response in the first stage of our consultation in December 2016.
"We also received a number of very useful and constructive comments which we've incorporated into our updated designs. So now we want to get people's feedback before we submit a planning application to proceed with the development.
"We've made a commitment in The Belfast Agenda that our city will be vibrant, attractive and environmentally friendly and these plans will create a beautiful shared space where people of all ages will be able to enjoy spending time in nature."
Proposed designs for the park include a timber boardwalk, wetland island, wildflower meadow, woodland, a playground, and picnic and park benches.
