NBRU Warn Of Winter Strikes At Irish Rail
The National Bus and Rail Union has issued a warning of potential strike action if an agreement cannot be reached in a dispute over a pay claim.
It is understood that Irish Rail has said that it is "carrying major debts" and cannot afford a pay increase.
Talks have commenced again at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Planned Rail Strike Suspended Following Pay Offer
Planned strikes by Network Rail workers have been suspended after a new 2% pay offer was made, according to the arbitration service Acas. Network Rail workers planned a 24 hour strike which was due to start at 5pm on Thursday.

High Speed Rail Line To Create Thousands Of Jobs
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne has said that 30,000 jobs could be created if the construction of a new high speed rail line from London to Birmingham goes ahead. More than 8,000 of these jobs are forecast for the West Midlands, with 4,500 of those at the planned new station site in Birmingham.

Police Forces Support Improved Pay Offer
Members of Unite the union, working for police forces in England and Wales have backed an improved pay offer in a ballot, it has been announced. Civilian staff, including 999 call handlers, scene of crime officers, police community support officers and custody officers, accepted the revised pay offer of 2.2%, or £400, whichever is greater, by 92%.

An influential Irish employers group has said any expectation of a pay rise by employees is "unrealistic". The employers' body IBEC made the claim after publishing the results of its survey showing the majority of companies could still not afford pay increases over the next two years.
