DUP 'Step Up' Engagement With Sinn Féin
The DUP said they have "stepped up" their engagement with Sinn Féin over the past week to restore power-sharing in Northern Ireland.
Leader Arlene Foster said: "At the end of the formal talks process at Stormont Castle I indicated that we would continue discussions with Sinn Féin as well as the other parties.
"We have stepped up that engagement with Sinn Féin over the last week during which time we spent a number of days involved in a detailed engagement with them to ascertain whether an agreement on the issues before us is possible.
"We intend to continue with a further series of bi-laterals with all of the other parties to determine whether agreement can be reached in the short time available."
Meanwhile, Sinn Féin Northern leader Michelle O'Neill said the talks between the two parties have "intensified".
She said: "We do believe progress is possible and are therefore ready to re-engage in formal negotiations together, and with the other parties and both Governments, to try and reach agreement in a short, sharp and focused negotiation. This process should begin immediately."
