Women In NI Can Access Free Abortions In Scotland
Women in Northern Ireland can now access free abortions through the NHS in Scotland.
The regulations laid the the Scottish Parliament came into force today, 06 November.
Scotland's Public Health Minister Aileen Campbell said: "Abortion can be an emotive subject however I am proud this government is working hard to ensure women are always able to access clinically safe services.
"That's why we have taken action to ensure that women from Northern Ireland can freely access abortion services through NHS Scotland.
"I also recognise the barriers that women from Northern Ireland face when they have to travel to access abortion services which is why we are exploring what more we can do to address them.
"Once again this underlines Scotland's commitment to ensuring we have a health service that puts patient care and dignity at its very heart."

The Irish Minister for Health, Simon Harris, has made a commitment to allow Northern Irish women to access abortion services in Ireland. Minister Harris made the commitment during his appearance at Feile an Phobail in Belfast. Abortion was legalised in Britain in 1967, but remains illegal in Northern Ireland.

Lidl Northern Ireland Opens Two New Stores
Lidl Northern Ireland has announced the reopening of its Stewartstown Road store in West Belfast and the opening of a new store in Carryduff. The Stewartstown Road store, which has undergone a major redevelopment, will reopen on December 5th. The new Carryduff store, Lidl’s 43rd in Northern Ireland, will open on December 12th.
