MLA Salaries To Be Reviewed
An independent review has been commissioned into whether MLAs should still receive their salaries in full while there is no assembly at Stormont.
Secretary of State James Brokenshire has requested Trevor Reaney provide him with advice on wages for members of the assembly.
Mr Reaney is a former Clerk and Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Assembly and a current member of the National Assembly for Wales Remuneration Board.
Mr Brokenshire was speaking during the second reading of NI's Budget Bill.
Speaking in the House of Commons he said: "I know that many in Northern Ireland are concerned that full salaries continue to be paid to assembly members despite the impasse.
"I understand that concern, but I recognise too that, in fact, many of those elected have been desperate to serve since March and have continued to provide valuable constituency functions in the meantime."

Lidl Northern Ireland has announced the reopening of its Stewartstown Road store in West Belfast and the opening of a new store in Carryduff. The Stewartstown Road store, which has undergone a major redevelopment, will reopen on December 5th. The new Carryduff store, Lidl’s 43rd in Northern Ireland, will open on December 12th.

DAERA Minister Confirms Commitment to Deposit Return Scheme
DAERA Minister Andrew Muir has reaffirmed his commitment to introducing a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) in Northern Ireland. The DRS is designed to encourage recycling by offering a monetary incentive for returning single-use drinks containers. The scheme will cover PET plastic, steel, and aluminium containers ranging from 150ml to 3 litres.
