SDLP Cllr Will 'Not Be Deterred' Following Arson Attack
An SDLP councillor has said he will "not be deterred" following an arson attack at his home in Co L'Derry.
Brian Tierney's car was deliberately set on fire at around 10.20pm on Friday, 24 November.
Mr Tierney's wife and children were in the house at the time of the attack.
He said he was overwhelmed by the support the family have received.
"The support we have received from SDLP members and the party's leadership has been incredible and we’d like to thank them for that," he said.
"The kind words, too, from across the political spectrum, including the Secretary of State has been a source of comfort to us both.
"We will not be deterred by this attack and it will not stop the work that we're engaged in to make Derry a better place for everyone living here.
"The generosity that we have seen, from across the city and from across the island, far outweighs the hate of those who carried out this act.
"We are Derry people. We are proud to have the support of the people of Derry. And we'll continue to do all we can to make this city a better place."

Assaulted French Student Defiant
A leading political figure in the North West has roundly condemned an attack this week that left a French student unconscious. The SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan was commenting after the student was assaulted in Derry. He was beaten and knocked unconscious by youths in the Bogside area of the city.
