Equality Commission Announces Series of Information Events
The Equality Commission has announced a series of training sessions for employers and service providers across NI.
The events aim to cover some of the most common enquiries received by the Equality Commission each year and will help keep employers on the right side of the law.
The current training programme covers a number of half-day events from January to March 2018 taking place in Belfast and Craigavon. Employer training topics include:
• Introduction to understanding equality
• Recruiting fairly
• Managing bullying and harassment at work
• Pregnancy and maternity at work
• Reasonable steps defence
• How to complete an Article 55 review
• Promoting disability equality in the workplace
• Public sector section 75 duties: a focus on screening

A report issued by the Department of Education and Skills has stated that most medium to large sized firms provide off-the-job training - but advisory firm Arkadia-HR has warned that companies could be wasting money on schemes that do not address individual needs.
