Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming benefits he was not entitled to at Derry Magistrates' Court.
Damien Hutcheson claimed Jobseeker's Allowance totalling £4,918 while failing to declare employment. He was given 120 hours community service.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
Work On Road Resurfacing Schemes In Belfast To Begin
Work on a number of road resurfacing schemes in Belfast is to take place over the next six months.
The road projects will be taking place on Columbia Road, Leopold Street and Rosebank Street.
Eastern Divisional Roads Manager Kevin Monaghan said: "The Department has delivered a significant programme of resurfacing and surface dressing. Structural maintenance activities including pothole repairs/patching along with street lighting repair and grass cutting will continue to be carried out to meet all essential public safety requirements."
Students In Financial Difficulties Urged To Seek Help
Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has reminded students in financial difficulties that they may be able to access the Support Fund through their university or college.
She said: "Students who may be facing financial difficulties should contact their Student Unions to get advice and support regarding assistance that may be available.
"The Support Fund is available through the universities and colleges for certain groups students, and those in difficult circumstance should look at the options available.
"Loans would have been received at the beginning of term and another payment is not due until January; it is important that students facing financial hardship are aware that assistance may be available."

Students Urged To Access Available Financial Support
Students suffering financial hardship are being urged to access the support available to them by Economy Minister Gordon Lyons. The Department for the Economy allocated almost £4.2million for Student Hardship Funds to the local higher education institutions for the current financial year, an increase of £1.

Northern Ireland students have outperformed their peers in England and Wales in both A-level and the new AS level exams. Figures released by the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) on Thursday August 16 show a record 48,000 grades have been issued to Northern Ireland students across all exam boards.
