Police Attacked During Security Alert In L'Derry
Police have been attacked during a hoax security alert in Co L'Derry.
Petrol bombs and fireworks were thrown by a group of people after the PSNI were attending the scene at the Lecky Road flyover on Sunday, 07 January.
No injuries were reported.
A suspicious device was reported under the flyover, however it was found to be a hoax.
A number of residents were evacuated from their homes during the alert which has now ended.
Chief Inspector Alan Hutton said: "Their actions serve no purpose other than to cause harm to our community and lead to criminal convictions for young people.
"Thankfully no one was injured and despite these incidents, police will continue to provide the dedicated service to the local community."
SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood said: "I urge anyone with any information to bring it forward immediately to the authorities.
"There's only one way to stop these attacks, that is for all of in our community to unite and speak out against those who seek to drag us back to the past."

A number of homes have been evacuated during a security alert in L'Derry. The incident happened when a man reported that a "suspicious object" was thrown at his house on Heron Way at about 10.30pm on Monday, 21 August. Police discovered the object in the front garden of his house.

Suspicious Object Found In L'Derry
A suspicious object found in L'Derry has sparked a security alert. The object was discovered in the Drumleck Drive area just after 8am on Wednesday, 02 May. A number of people have been evacuated from their homes and police officers have sealed off the area. The residents are being accommodated in the Shantallow Community Centre.

Ballyclare Bomb Alert Declared A Hoax
Danny Kinahan, Ulster Unionist MLA for South Antrim, has condemned those responsible for a bomb alert near Ballyclare Police Station this morning. Local people had to be evacuated from their homes and children making their way to school were also put at risk.

Suspicious Object Sparks Antrim Security Alert
Police are currently dealing with a security alert in County Antrim. The discovery of a suspicious object sparked the operation on the A6 Belfast Road on Thursday 31 January. The road has been closed between the New Lodge and Rathmore roads. Diversions are in place and airport traffic is not likely to be affected.
