High Levels Of Air Pollution Expected Across NI
Moderate to high levels of air pollution are expected across urban centres in Northern Ireland today, 11 January.
In a statement the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said: "The wind is expected to strengthen from the early hours of Friday morning which should disperse pollutants and bring levels down.
"The high levels of pollution are likely to arise as a result of emissions from road vehicles and home heating and the current cold, still weather conditions in which pollutants are not dispersed."
Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud
A man has been convicted for claiming over £22,000 in benefits he was not entitled to at Belfast Crown Court.
Alan Jones claimed Jobseeker's Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £22,086 while failing to declare an income/capital. He was given 120 hours Community Service.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
SDLP Signs Pledge To Break Silence On Sexual Violence
On behalf of the SDLP, Assembly Member John Dallat joined others in signing a pledge at Stormont to break the silence on sexual violence.
He said: "Sexual violence continues to be a blight on our society and this is borne out by the strain placed on organisations offering support to victims of abuse.
"Unfortunately the assembly is not meeting and isn’t in a position to act on the harrowing stories we heard today from people who could not have survived without the help provided by organisations such as Nexus NI, Women’s Aid, Victims Support and others.
"These and other, mainly voluntary, organisations are not receiving the level of support they urgently need from a functioning assembly which is pledged to honour the Good Friday Agreement promise of equality for everyone and not least those who suffered sexual violence for many years in the home, in the workplace and from institutions.
"In signing this pledge the SDLP urges the wider community to include these charities when making donations."

Man Sentenced To 16 Years For A Number Of Historical Sexual Abuse Offences
A 48-year-old has been sentenced to 16 years for a number of historical sexual abuse offences against a child, at Laganside Court. Tommy Harris will serve eight years in jail and eight years on licence. He will also be place on the sex offenders register for life. Harris's conviction comes after his victim waived her anonymity to speak out.

Review Recommends Banning Public From Sexual Offence Trials
A report into the law and procedures surrounding serious sexual offences in Northern Ireland has recommended restricting the public's access to trials. The Gillen Review, which commenced last May, has independently scrutinised how courts operate in cases of serious sexual offences. Sir John Gillen, a former Lord Justice of Appeal led the study.

Government withdraws Rape Crisis Centre funding
The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has announced that it will no longer provide funding for the Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre (RC&SAC). However, it has said that it will continue to provide funding for services to victims of rape and sexual violence and will ensure that this money is directed into quality services.
