Small Number Of Schools Remain Closed After Heavy Snow
A small number of schools remain closed today, 18 January, following heavy snow in NI.
Yellow weather warnings for ice remain in place until 11am today.
The schools which remain closed are:

Holy Family Primary School, Magherafelt, 1 Castledawson Road, BT45 6AX
Kilronan Special School, 46 Kilronan Road, Magherafelt, BT45 6EN
Southern Schools
Cortamlet Primary School, 19 Cortamlet Road, BT35 0EE
Newtownhamilton Primary School, 8 School Road, BT35 0DQ
Newtownhamilton High School, 9 Armagh Road, BT35 0DG.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI), emergency services, and victim support groups have launched Road Safety Week 2024, highlighting the devastating impact of road traffic collisions. On average, one person loses their life on Northern Ireland's roads every week, with 57 fatalities recorded so far this year.

Two Co Antrim primary schools are to close because of falling rolls. The Sinn Fein Education Minister, John O'Dowd, has approved a proposal to close Lourdes Primary School, Whitehead: "I have agreed to the closure [because of] a decline in enrolments in recent years [that] has given rise to concern.
