Appeal Issued For Taxi Driver Who Helped Assault Victim In L'Derry

Police in Co L'Derry are appealing for a taxi driver who helped the victim of a serious attack to contact them.

The assault happened in the Chapel Road area between 1am and 1.30am on Sunday, 30 December.

Three men attacked the victim and he sustained life changing injuries to his face, head and ribs.

It is believed a hatchet may have been used.

PSNI Constable Robb said: "We are appealing to this taxi driver, and to anyone else with information or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact police at Strand Road Police Station on 101.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 - which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

Police Renew Appeal For Information On Taxi Driver Attack
The PSNI have renewed an appeal for information on an attack on a taxi driver in L'Derry on Saturday 05 August. In the incident, the taxi, a silver coloured Citroen Xsara, was travelling on Northland Road at around 11.30pm, when a man jumped onto the bonnet of the car, before smashing the driver side window with his fist.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

The PSNI in Belfast have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after a taxi driver was assaulted in the east of the city in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, 12th February. Delivery Driver Threatened At Knifepoint In West Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a delivery driver was threatened at knifepoint in west Belfast. The attack happened in the Ardcaoin area of Poleglass at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, 18 July. The suspects threatened the pizza delivery driver, assaulted him, stole a sum of cash and made off.

Taxi Driver Commended After Telling Passenger He Was Scam Victim
The PSNI in Newtownards have commended a taxi driver after he convinced a passenger he was the victim of a scam. The passenger told Kare Kabs driver Roy that all he had to do was go down to Tescos and buy £125 of iTunes vouchers to get the cash. However, Roy realised this was a scam and told the passenger, but he was still sure it was genuine.
