NI Secretary Of State To Update MPs After Talks Collapse

Secretary of State Karen Bradley is expected to updates MPs today, 20 February, after talks to restore power-sharing in Northern Ireland collapsed last week.

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has ruled against direct rule.

However, DUP leader Arlene Foster has spoken to Mrs Bradley and asked her to set a budget as well as make a "key decision" impacting schools, infrastructure and hospitals.

Mrs Foster said: "The Northern Ireland people deserve better. School principals, hospital managers and infrastructure planners have been in limbo for months unsure of budgets and unable to get ministerial direction.

"I am not prepared to allow this to continue.  Decisions need to be taken."
