Nicholl on course for NI football job
Dunfermline Athletic assistant coach Jimmy Nicholl remains on course to land the job of Northern Ireland football manager.
The former international player, who represented his country at two World Cup's, is believed to have been one of the name's drawn up at a meeting of the IFA's International Committee on Wednesday night.
Nicholl has already stated his desire to become the successor to Sammy McIlroy who recently quit to become manager of Second Division Stockport County.
Other names believed to be in the frame are former international's Jimmy Quinn, Lawrie Sanchez and current Under 21 boss Roy Millar.
Millar is currently an outside bet however the fact that he wouldn't cost the IFA much in wages, and given that the Republic of Ireland appointed Brian Kerr from a similar position within their organisation last year, means he could be a serious contender.
IFA President Jim Boyce said the appointment was likely to be made before the end of the month.
Northern Ireland's next fixture is home to Norway on February 18.

IFA opts for Maze stadium plan
At an Executive Committee meeting, the IFA have backed the development of the proposed new multi-purpose stadium at the Maze site. Voting for the proposal, the soccer body said that they were prepared to "progress the matter with Government" on the basis that two other sports also found the stadium proposal attractive.
