Search for boy continued by volunteers
Despite the official search being stood down on Monday, teams of local volunteers are continuing the search for the boy swept off a Co Down pier on Sunday.
Jordan Murdoch, 14, fell off the pier in Killough at lunchtime on Sunday, but a number of volunteers have pledged to continue a search of the shoreline in the area today.
A 12-year-old boy, David Hackett, rescued from the water after he jumped in to save his friend, has been released for hospital following treatment for shock and hypothermia.
Jordan's grandfather and mother watched helplessly from the pier as the boy slipped beneath the surface of the sea.
Coastguard, mountain rescue teams, police divers and local residents joined lifeboat crews and an Irish coastguard helicopter called in to search for the boy on Sunday and Monday.
Jordan had recently moved to the area from Belfast and it is understood that both boys were watching the waves from the end of the pier when the incident occurred.
